Andrew Bednarski as Stevie Katts, with Rinty/Rudy in Katts and Dog. This was the happiest surprise of the year for me: whole seasons of Katts & Dog, also known as Rin Tin Tin K-9 Cop, on dvd!

I loved this series when it was on in the US in the early nineties, and I have been searching for more - anything more at all - than the few eps I had saved on video for all these years. And here it is, more than two whole seasons no less!

Jesse Collins as Hank Katts in Katts and Dog. It´s not exactly what I had hoped for: everything is dubbed in French, and there are no subtitles available (not even French ones), so you have to fully rely on your understanding of spoken French.

But it went a lot better than I had expected. The dubbing has been done with exceptional care: the dubbed voices of the main characters are very, very close to the actors´ original voices, which almost gives you the impression that the actors were actually speaking French in front of the camera. Another advantage is that their pronunciation is very clear, which is a great help when you´re trying Hank (Jesse Collins) and Stevie Katts (Andrew Bednarski) in Katts and Dog. to follow French conversation.

The image quality is okay, though sometimes a short scene is of considerably less quality - it looks like a copy of a videotape has replaced a small (damaged?) part of the mastertape here and there in dvd-pack 2 and 3.

Still: if you´ve been longing to see the adventures of Hank, Rinty/Rudy, Stevie, Renée, Lou and Ron again and you´re more or less able to follow spoken French, I´d certainly recommend trying at least one season, especially as long as it´s not out in English. I´ve just spent three days watching my newly received dvd-packs, and I absolutely love it! Worth every euro!
